Although our victories this year were small, we made some steps in the right direction and gained much valuable experience. Upon review of lessons learned this year and the problem-solving methods that have been honed and shaped by our new knowledge, it seems clear to me that this year’s organization represented a quantum leap over that of previous years. There is however, if you follow my metaphor, the latent potential to achieve still higher energy levels. I believe that I can continue to provide discrete packets of energy fueling this process, in the form of increased quizzing, with a focus on higher frequency and lower length (1 ‘test’ becoming 3 ‘quizzes’). I also propose to enforce officer deadlines for review of such quizzes and advanced preparation of study materials. I plan to keep the team selection process the same as it was this year, but will have more data to base meritocratic decisions on, decreasing frequency of necessitated tie resolution. I will in addition to this and building on my store of Science Olympiad experience and ease of collaboration with diverse officers, restructure the building branch of Science Olympiad to involve simultaneous competition and collaboration amongst sub-teams. It is this vision that I will attempt to, with the increase of the influence of the Presidency in directing a "grand plan" for Science Olympiad, bring to all aspects of the club.
